Big Bear - Closing out 2010

We decided to ring in the new year with a trip up to Poppo's cabin in Big Bear. The last time we were there was December 2008 (gulp!). It was a nice, quick get-away to see some snow and share in some *quiet* family time. The cabin (for those who've never been there) was built in the 40s, I believe, and is a very rustic little place...set in Sugarloaf, CA...often referred to as "a little piece of heaven" by Poohpah and Baba who visit fairly frequently!

Arriving at the cabin...

Kacie doing some matching with Baba (we haven't taken these out in a long time; I think they were more appropriate for Calvin this time!)

Daddy and Calvin enjoying some evening snow time.

New Year's Eve dinner...we decided to keep it all very simple. ;)

New Year's Day breakfast. :)

Taking a little ride on the sled...(it's time to buy a new one!)

Calvin did NOT like his oompa loompa outfit...he couldn't move...and fell face first into the snow.

Building a snowman. When we were kids, we were always dressed a little hodge-podge when it came to snow attire. My kids are no different! (Note the rain boots and jeans that Kacie is wearing!)

Building a snowman with Daddy. Riley was there too!

He had fun!

Oh, there's a smile!

Polich's Pine Palace in the background...

Family shot with our snowman (ok, our snow midget!)

SOOOOO much happier without all those clothes on!

Daddy and his kids as we prepare to depart.

We decided to end the trip with a drive around Big Bear Lake and into town and then a visit to Maggio's pizza before heading down the mountain. Here we are following behind Baba and Poohpah as we approach Fawnskin. Just gorgeous.

Our darling daughter missed the whole adventure as she decided to close her eyes and take a snooze...despite the fact that we had just had a 2-3 hour naptime at the cabin...and everyone napped but her!! She closed her eyes before we even left the driveway...as we had some trouble getting out due to all the snow on the ground. She's one stubborn 3-year old.
